In this article, we will look at importing and exporting templates with Elementor. This will allow you to quickly duplicate sections of your WordPress website in Elementor and export them to your desktop.

What is a Template?

A template is a pre-saved layout of your website that you can export or duplicate on other pages. There are multiple ways to do this and by duplicating sections of the same website, the copy-and-paste method would be the quickest. This article covers how to import and export templates so that you can duplicate your work on other websites.

How to Save a Template

To create a section template, open the page with the Elementor editor, hover over the Container you wish to duplicate, right-click and “Save as Template”. This will open a pop-up window for you to save your template.

Give your new template a name and click “Save”.

The system will guide you to your Template Library window, where you can observe the newly saved section at the bottom. You can then insert this section anywhere on your website by opening that page with Elementor editor, clicking the grey folder icon to open your section library, and selecting Insert.

How to Export a Template

To export the template:

  1. Log into your website’s back office
  2. In the left-hand side panel click “Templates”
  3. Click “Saved Templates”
  4. Identify the template you wish to export from the list
  5. Hover over it and click “Export”

This can also be done in the page builder by clicking the grey folder icon, clicking the three dots on the right and then “Export”.
