What is a Template?

A template is a pre-saved website layout consisting of styled elements. By creating a template, you can apply these settings and layouts to every new Post or Page you create, giving your website continuity throughout and reducing build time. Elementor has a couple of ways to do this and the main two are:

  1. Templates made through the Theme Builder (requires Elementor Pro)
  2. Reusable Container templates (available on free Elementor)

This article will only cover Elementor Theme Builder Templates, however, we would recommend reading Creating Container Templates in Elementor.

Theme Builder Templates

Creating templates in the Theme builder is only available on the Elementor Pro feature and can be used with almost any WordPress Theme. It’s quick and easy to use, with some great presets that can have you building your website in no time. These presets can be applied to your entire site or a select few pages. The below steps are for creating a Single Post template, but the same can be applied to any of Elementor’s Site Parts, including Single Page templates.

Here’s how to set up a Single Post template:

  1. Once you have Elementor and Elementor Pro installed
  2. On the left-hand side panel, click “Templates”
  3. Next, click “Theme Builder”
  4. This will open your Theme Builder with options to create “Site Parts”
  5. On the top-right side of the page click “Add New”
  6. Click “Single Post” – this will load the Elementor Page Builder
  7. Build your site Post
  8. Click Publish
  9. Set the rules for what pages you would like to display the template
